Dodge Challenger Bad Ass 70 RT

by fastcars on 2010/07/29

70 RT Challenger Racing at a trooper practice track, passing a 69 AMX, holding off a red Ferrari until we pulled off for a look at the Black Beauty, worth a look, not just show, "It go Toooo!"

@jpgbrookes ,,actually i put some taller gears in it for a vanishing point run from denver to nevada and back to denver, and i had it up over 120mph,its plenty powerful even with an auto

ZZUBZERO July 29, 2010 at 4:18 am

@jpgbrookes This is my brothers car, yes, it is an automatic, and he has probably gone a little over 100, it has low gears for quick get up and go, more of a cornering/road race car than a straight drag.

jpgbrookes July 29, 2010 at 4:23 am

@ZZUBZERO

Sounds like an automatic you have in there. What is the fastest that you have gone in the Challenger?

ZZUBZERO July 29, 2010 at 4:39 am

@jpgbrookes Maybe even better, that was a good sounding mustang i must say, but the challenger has a very distinctive sound, like the Vanishing Point Challenger just has this awesome sound

jpgbrookes July 29, 2010 at 5:02 am

your car almost sounds like the Bullitt mustang!

beetlekill123 July 29, 2010 at 5:39 am

that was awsome . my second dad had a challenger , 1970 rt ,440 ,sixpack, shaker hood, dealer louveres back glass, rear spoiler , 4 speed , buckets, console, pistol grip, posi , Paint is panter pink. ONE OF THREE CARS MADE. And I got to thrash it !!!!! Just once , I will never forget it.

Beck9018 July 29, 2010 at 5:40 am

now that is a sexy car, gotta love challengers

Bbdrew July 29, 2010 at 6:27 am

beautiful

drewcraner July 29, 2010 at 7:00 am

well its a state patrol test track,i go with a local club that rents it,
look in to your local clubs depending on where you live there might be a track you can run on i highly recommend it its a kick and a real rush to go out and just flog it hard full wide open throttle!! these 440s run hard and long!

72charger440se July 29, 2010 at 7:59 am

very nice mopar! it looks like a blast to be lettin that beast loose i would like to do that with my 72 charger se its got a 440 and a slapstik trans its alot of fun, was that some kind of race track?

ZZUBZERO July 29, 2010 at 8:45 am

drewcraner July 29, 2010 at 9:06 am

you do know this is an old chally right? 1970 i can see your point too, but just what defines “supercar”?

Zando24 July 29, 2010 at 9:39 am

Someone said the new Challenger was an American Super Car…so I was responding to that. It is most certainly a badass car

drewcraner July 29, 2010 at 10:03 am

I am confused who said “super car”? we said “bad ass” and it is, oh btw it actually is faster in the 1/4 mile than a stock one 13.7 at 5800 ft above sea level this car would be faster at sea level so there, thanks for watching and commenting :)

Zando24 July 29, 2010 at 10:36 am

It certainly isn’t a super car. It doesn’t run the 1/4 any faster than the original

ZZUBZERO July 29, 2010 at 10:39 am

Which ones? I’m missing something here?

airfueleddie July 29, 2010 at 10:53 am

Go get em ZZub!!!Super vid! I love all the roadrace stuff!

drewcraner July 29, 2010 at 11:21 am

i saw your monte , nice looks like alot of work , i always liked those body styles, :]

drewcraner July 29, 2010 at 11:22 am

i started road courses in a 1970 duster , 360 auto, yes those cars can be made to handle also, and quite well , any A body would be a sweet track car!

drewcraner July 29, 2010 at 11:53 am

440 4 bbl demon 750 cfm, bored over 0.030″, 8 3/4 rear, 3:91 ratio, as you can tell i run out of gear real fast , but i like the way it pulls out of the corners

drewcraner July 29, 2010 at 12:03 pm

this car has a 440 4bbl demon, 8/34 rear , with 3:91 ratio, as you can tell i run out of gear real fast , but it really pulls out of the corners,:)

GradysMusic July 29, 2010 at 12:21 pm

i was leaning more on an import motor. Like an acura nsx motor decked out. wind that vtec up with a turbo and put it in an A body and damn.

or just mr norm six pack 340!

but yeah i love to see some use of these cars…even if its on the creative side

mkspence July 29, 2010 at 1:18 pm

If you manage to place twin turbochargers on a Slant Six in an A-body, I’d really like to see it on YouTube.

Better yet, put a 16-valve Dodge Cummins into an A-body, and you get a turbo standard. Sort of like the set up this character has:

Does this car have a 440-4v that’s been bored, say, 0.030″ over?

Any idea what rear axle he’s using?

drewcraner July 29, 2010 at 3:09 pm

yes the new challenger has the potential to be an american super/musclecar,with all the modern tech. and looks to kill!
